Marine vet awarded mortgage-free home in Inver Grove Heights

In discussion of City Hall murals, many ask for them to go


courtesy of Jane Prince The East Side Freedom Library held a community conversation about murals in St. Paul City Hall on Jan. 10. The murals have raised concerns for a number of years due to their depiction of African American and indigenous peoples in relation to white men. More recently, residents have wondered if the murals should continue to be on display in what is considered a democratic space.

Community members gathered at the East Side Freedom Library Jan. 10 to discuss murals inside St. Paul City Hall and whether the city council chambers is an appropriate place for them to be on display.

With a determined coach, Polars basketball is a program on the rise


Solomon Gustavo Former Gopher and professional basketball player Damian Johnson is in his second year as head coach of the North High School basketball team, where he is quickly building a Polars program on the rise. Asked where he’d like his photo taken, he said, “In front of the trophy case.”

Roseville circulator bus expands to serve southeast part of city


Newtrax driver Randy Creel escorted a passenger into a handicapped-accessible bus at the Roseville Target on the first day of an expanded route aimed at increasing the weekly service to people in southeast Roseville. She was headed back to her home at Greenhouse Village.The city-subsidized Roseville South Suttle Bus operates at midday on Tuesdays.

Fueled by volunteers fanning out to distribute maps in five languages, the weekly free circulator bus in south Roseville has expanded to serve immigrants in the southeast part of the city, as well as residents in senior housing.

After county no-show, TCAAP board fails to revive meetings

A meeting of the Joint Development Authority Board failed to start on Jan. 7 after too few members showed.

“I regret to inform you that we do not have a quorum,” said incoming board chair Brian Holmes.
