In Sauk Rapids and Minneapolis and many other communities, weekly garbage collection means a single garbage truck goes down every residential street to pick up garbage. In contrast, other Minnesota communities have four or five different garbage trucks going down every residential street or alley to pick up the trash.

Roseville residents weigh in on possibility of organized trash hauling

The Roseville City Council has not decided not to rule out the possibility of organized trash hauling for the city, but will not be moving forward with any official process at this time.
The possibility of implementing an organized trash collection system in Roseville has been a topic of discussion in recent years, and the Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission recently passed an updated resolution that asked the Roseville City Council to consider that possibility.

Canadian Pacific Railway changing its operations at Cardigan Junction

Residents living near Cardigan Junction in southeast Shoreview may get some relief from the around-the-clock train noise they have been enduring since this spring as a result of increased railroad activity.
Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) announced last week that they would be implementing a new operation plan through the junction.
CPR, which owns the railway intersection just north of I-694 and west of Rice Street, has seen an uptick in business lately as a result of an improved economy, according to Ed Greenberg, a spokesman for the company.

Preliminary designs for road reconstruction near TCAAP unveiled


Proposed improvements to the County Road H and County Highway 96 interchanges with I-35W are still in the preliminary phases. Ramsey County held an open house for residents to learn more about reconstruction plans for the County Road 96 and County Road H interchanges with Interstate 35W Nov. 19 at the Ramsey County Public Works Facility in Arden Hills.
County officials, in cooperation with the cities of Shoreview, Mounds View, New Brighton, and Arden Hills along with Metropolitan Council, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the Rice Creek Watershed District, are currently reviewing several preliminary design alternatives for the reconstruction project.
