Roseville’s bond rating hits new heights with top ratings from Standard and Poor’s, Moody’s

Roseville joined an elite group of cities recently as the city announced that it has received a triple-A bond rating from Standard & Poor’s (S&P). It is the second bond rating upgrade in two years for Roseville, which received a ‘Aaa’ rating upgrade from Moody’s in 2012.

The recent rash of auto break-ins in the Review and Bulletin coverage area prompts the need to re-issue standard, law enforcement reminders: a variety of bad guys want your stuff - ID thieves, addicts, or just run of the mill prowlers.

Hide valuables in your trunk before arriving at your destination, or better yet, take them with you.

Illinois isn’t the only state claiming 16th president as favorite son
Growing up in the Chicago area, I attended Lincoln Junior High, went on my high school’s traditional trip to tour Abraham Lincoln’s home in Springfield, Ill., and every day saw Illinois license plates reading “Land of Lincoln.”
 So I was surprised to learn on a recent trip to Louisville that America’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, was born in Kentucky and that state also claims him as a favorite son.

Area cities regulate e-cigarette sales

More and more cities in Ramsey County are updating municipal tobacco ordinances to regulate the sale of electronic devices that deliver nicotine such as e-cigarettes. Products like e-cigarettes do not contain tobacco, but contain the same -- some times higher-- amount of nicotine found in regular cigarettes. People who use e-cigarettes often refer to it as “vaping,’ since the heated nicotine produces a vapor instead of smoke.

Archdiocese discloses sexual abuse claims against nine more priests

On Monday, Feb. 17, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis released a list of nine more priests thought to have been credibly accused of sexual misconduct.
The archdiocese released the names following a comprehensive file review by Kinsale Management Consulting, an outside firm based in Los Angeles, Calif. The review began in December 2013, when a Ramsey County judge ordered the archdiocese to release the list of priests who had been credibly accused of sexual abuse. At that time, the archdiocese disclosed claims against 33 priests.

Roseville Area High School seniors Hanna Melin and Kendra Bergstedt have been invited to participate in the prestigious Presidential Scholars Program.
Students are selected from across the nation to participate in the program based on their exceptional SAT and/or ACT scores.
