North St. Paul council allows workgroup to explore saving Silver Lake trees


Aundrea Kinney/Review • At presstime, the 71 trees expected to be removed for North St. Paul’s 2018 Street and Utility Public Improvement Project had been reduced to about 50 trees, with city staff and a new resident workgroup examining other ways to try to save even more trees.

The North St. Paul City Council unanimously agreed Aug. 21 to allow a resident workgroup to research options to minimize the loss of trees to utility and road work that’s already underway near Silver Lake.

Local music education nonprofit eyeing Payne Avenue for new venue


file photo • The nonprofit Twin Cities Catalyst Music is looking to use the basement of the Old Swedish Bank building for a new all-ages and alcohol-free music venue. Twin Cities Catalyst Music teaches youth about various aspects of the music business — composing, recording, operating a venue and other skills.

Group plans to have after-school music programs.

Longtime Maplewood resident leaves a legacy of community service


submitted • Annemarie Fosburgh smiled surrounded by flowers in September 2006 on the deck of her Maplewood home, in which she lived for 50 years.

Annemarie Fosburgh, Anne to those who knew her, passed away Aug. 3 at age 89, leaving behind a legacy of Maplewood pride and community involvement.
