County will receive grant to investigate potential fraud in public assistance

Washington County will receive a $170,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to investigate fraud in public assistance programs over the course of two years, after the county board approved the grant June 13.

Co-ownership of Tartan Ice Arena dissolved

A second apparent drowning death in the city of Lake Elmo this June


A young man died in Lake Jane June 15 of apparent drowning. According to lake-link.com, Lake Jane is about 153 square acres and 39 feet deep at its deepest point. Aundrea Kinney/Review

A June 15 fishing excursion on Lake Jane led to the appearent drowning death of a young man, and the rescue of two other men.

North St. Paul residents are recognized for community service


Crist Langelett, a longtime North St. Paul resident and spiritual leader, has volunteered his time to benefit North St. Paul’s police and fire departments, the North St. Paul Food Shelf and inmates in area prisons.

Hause Park playground to be updated


The existing playground at Hause Park was built in 1996 and shows its wear and tear; it has outlived its 15 year lifespan.

The Sky Run Zip Track includes a seat for a child to sit on as they slide across the track.

Casey Lake baseball field named in honor of Jerry Bell


After the field-naming ceremony, Jerry Bell joined the little leaguers for a photo, and threw the first pitch of the baseball game to Riley Skuza of the North St. Paul Polars. The dedication festivities included a North St. Paul Athletic Association ceremonial baseball game, a performance by the North High School show choir, a tour of the new park facility, and complimentary hot dogs and refreshments provided by the Salvation Army Mobile Canteen.

New Lake Elmo nature center to honor resident’s late wife


The Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center will include a classroom, gift shop and restroom on the main floor and office space and additional exhibits in the mezzanine.
