District 622 asking for $275 million for new schools, improvements


courtesy of ISD 622 Tartan High School has become too congested, as well as the rest of School District 622, according to the school board, which agreed to ask residents to vote on a $275 million referendum for facilities improvements.

At its Feb. 26 meeting, the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale District 622 School Board agreed to ask residents for $275 million to build two new schools and renovate five, while closing three schools in the process.

Classic barber to be bumped from Seventh Avenue for development


Solomon Gustavo/Review Clay Rivera, owner of Clay’s Barber Shop on Seventh Avenue, will have to move to make way for a new North St. Paul development. He’s looking for a new space on main street and a partner to build it with him and work at the shop.

Clay’s Barber Shop on Seventh Avenue is one room with two chairs, a little waiting area and a big window. People driving by see the shop, sense the simple charm of a classic barber and cant help but take a look inside.

Roseville man sentenced for 2017 fatal stabbing

A 21-year-old Roseville man was sentenced to roughly 26 years in prison on Feb. 27 for his role in the killing of a man in South St. Paul during a robbery.
