Marjorie Otto/Review • The Karen Weaving Circle celebrated Paw Boh Htoo’s life during a Nov. 29 ceremony at the East Side Freedom Library. The event, which had been planned months before Htoo’s death, wrapped up another year of weaving at the library. Visitors had the chance to purchase items made by the circle and watch weaving demonstrations.

Family, friends and fragrance in Michigan


Pamela O’Meara photo • The SS Badger, a National Historic Landmark, pulls into Ludington, after crossing Lake Michigan from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It was launched in 1953 to ferry railroad cars across the lake. Now it’s a car ferry for people wishing to shorten their trip across the lake.

The fragrance of lavender wafted through the air and bees flited through the rows of lovely purple plants at Lavender Hill Farm near Petoskey, Michigan.

Polly’s Coffee Cove takes a different shape

After more than 11 years at 1382 Payne Ave., Polly’s Coffee Cove unexpectedly closed earlier this fall.
