Slawik named ‘Champion’

State Representative Nora Slawik (DFL, District 55B) was named a “Legislative Children’s Champion” recently by the Children’s Defense Fund’s Minnesota Action Council. Slawik (center) received her award at a special State Capitol ceremony from Carole Specktor, the Defense Fund’s Legislative Affairs and Advocacy Director (left) and Minnesota Director Jim Koppel.

Slawik not only scored 100 percent on six key votes impacting the health and well being of children, but also signed onto key health care or childcare legislation during the 2005 legislative session. She is one of just 19 members of the House to receive the honor.
