Fairbank, Iowa, population 1,123, had a rumor so juicy it persisted for generations. 

People believed a gangster, Al Capone’s bookkeeper, Louie La Cava, relocated to the farmtown in the 1920s to hide out.

Motorist dresses skeleton model in carpool scheme


This is not model behavior.

The disguise of a hoodie was not enough to fool the Minnesota State Patrol.

On a sunny May 10, a trooper on Interstate 35E in Maplewood spotted a model skeleton riding in the passenger seat of a car driving in the MnPASS carpool lane.

Voters approve $275 million ISD 622 bond

Residents of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District voted in support of the district’s request for money to improve schools. 

The $275 million bond request passed by a margin of 61% to 38% following the May 14 referendum.

Sometimes, people just need a little push. As for clearing out some space in storage, or finally selling a certain item, North St. Paul gave its residents a little incentive by holding a citywide garage sale May 16 to 18.
