Deserted Journey Home properties linger in Shoreview, Arden Hills


Journey Home, the now defunct housing nonprofit founded by former Ramsey County commissioner Blake Huffman, left behind a vacant lot in the 3400 block of Victoria Street in Shoreview after it tore down a home there. The City of Shoreview has ordered an abatement of public nuisance, and is beginning to clean up the site. (Bridget Kranz)

Founded in 2008, former Ramsey County District 1 commissioner Blake Huffman’s housing nonprofit dissolved this spring, leaving a series of unmaintained properties across the north metro, including one each in Shoreview and Arden Hills.

Same festival, different park as annual community celebration moves to Silver View


Games, inflatables and more will be set up throughout the day on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Silver View Park.

Summer is scooting on by, but it’s not over yet. There’s plenty of fun left to soak up in the sun, and one perfect way to catch some rays is at the Mounds View Festival in the Park.

First responders called to senior residence ... for coffee and cake

Although residents at Cottage Villas of Arden Hills swear they never get in trouble with the police, they do get a fair amount of visits from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Johanna Fire Department for non-crime-related help.
