ISD 623 welcomes incumbent, two newbies
The Falcon Heights City Council started its first meeting of the new year off with a breezy tone as it swore in two incumbent members and two brand new council members Jan. 13.
Mayor Peter Lindstrom took the oath of office for his third term in the position and council member Joe Brown Thunder was sworn in for his first full term on the council. Brown Thunder began his career on the council in October 2014 as an appointee.

Rep. Jason Isaacson announces MN Senate run

Sen. Bev Scalze, DFL-Little Canada, announced Dec. 9 that she will not seek reelection to the state Senate for District 42 in 2016.
“I am looking forward to having more time to spend with my family, especially my two granddaughters who live in Florida,” Scalze said in a statement. “I am also eager to focus more time and energy on my wildlife art.”

Roseville Area High School freshman Ellie McComb drew an editorial cartoon that took top honors in The New York Times' student cartoon contest, and her current events teacher Ira Sanders says it's quite an honor.
