Local food shelf receives generous donation from Rotary Clubs

Lake Elmo begins the process for reconstructing City Hall and a fire station

With a growing population and current needs not being met by its City Hall and fire station buildings, Lake Elmo is looking to construct updated facilities.

Kindness forecasted for Lake Elmo in 2018


submitted image • The Lake Elmo Rotary Club plans to hand out “pass it forward” cards to residents to promote its Kindness Campaign. The back of the card has a quick response code that can be scanned by cell phones to see what acts of kindness have happened in the area. The back of the card also lists examples of random acts of kindness, such as paying for the order behind you in the drive-through, visiting someone in a nursing home who doesn’t often get visitors and leaving a book you’ve finished where someone else can have it.

Lake Elmo Mayor Mike Pearson recently declared 2018 as “Random Acts of Kindness Year” in the city.

Lake Elmo residents can expect a 22 percent increase in the city portion of their 2018 property taxes, in contrast to 2017’s 5.2 percent reduction.

Lake Elmo and Oakdale experiencing uptick in residential break-ins


Oakdale is experiencing an increase in the number of burglaries in the northeast corner of the city, according to police. Lake Elmo and Oakdale are experiencing an increase in the number of break-ins, especially in instances where doors to vehicles, garages or homes are left unlocked.
