In the small political pond of Lilydale, three unopposed incumbents are again running to represent the town of about 700 people in the Nov. 4 general election.
While the mayoral and Ward 3 council races heat up, two West St. Paul City Council candidates are running unopposed in this year's election, offering them a chance to focus on the city's future.
The South St. Paul city council race features three available seats and six candidates running for those seats. All three incumbents whose terms are up — Todd Podgorski, Marilyn Rothecker and Tom Seaberg — are seeking re-election.
The competition for two council seats in North St. Paul includes two incumbents, Terry Furlong and Candy Norgard-Petersen; one former council member who hopes to return, Dave Zick, and perennial candidate Bob Zick.
Two Shoreview city council members are up for re-election this year. Seats held by Terry Quigley and Ben Withhart are set to expire at the end of the year.
Voters will have nine to choose from Nov. 4
Oakdale has a slate of six candidates vying for two spots on the city council and three hoping to claim the open mayoral seat.
Two Roseville city council members are up for re-election this year. Seats held by Tammy McGehee and Bob Willmus are set to expire at the end of the year. They are being challenged by newcomer Kaying Thao.
Little Canada has two open city council seats on the ballot this year. Current council member John Keis is running unopposed for mayor, and his term is set to expire at the end of the year.
