The girls basketball teams from Tartan and North played the first of their two annual regular-season match-ups recently, and it was all Titans. Tartan ran away with a 72-37 win over the Polars on Jan. 15 at North.

Girls basketball teams back on the courts after holiday break
Hill-Murray senior Sami Schneider was one of 33 high school seniors to make the first cut for the 2016 Miss Minnesota Basketball award. The announcement was made on Jan. 6.
The Miss Minnesota Basketball award is given annually to the top female high school senior basketball player in the state. The 2015 recipient was Eastview's Madison Guebert, who this year is a member of the South Dakota State University women's basketball team.

Finishing in the upper half of the field in their respective holiday tournaments proved difficult for a number of Roseville Area High School and Concordia Academy winter sports teams. Of the five area teams whose tournaments concluded prior to the deadline for this edition of the Review, only one placed in the top half.
