LETTER: What’s unsaid in the county board race

To the Editor:

I’m writing today about the elephant in the room of the Ramsey County commissioner race. Multiple local media outlets have found millions of dollars in fraud through the Department of Human Services’ Child Care Assistance Program. The department has been in turmoil; top commissioners and deputies have resigned, and they are still under investigation by the Minnesota Legislature.

The top vote-getter in the primary race, Nicole Frethem, not only works for the Department of Human Services, she is a supervisor with the Child Care Assistance Program. Someone who helps oversee a department responsible for the fraud of millions of dollars is unqualified for elected office. We need to do better.
