Benedictine Center events

Taize prayer

The event is Friday, June 21, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Taize prayer is a worldwide phenomenon consisting of simple chants
based on the scriptures and periods of silence, creating an environment that helps participants encounter the mystery of
God. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

A week of solitude, silence and renewal

This is an opportunity to experience a directed retreat. This retreat will be held Friday, June 21, through Friday, June 28.
The $450 cost includes single lodging, meals and spiritual direction. Participants will be able to settle in for eight days of
quiet renewal and solitude within the rhythm of the monastic community. They will also have the opportunity to meet
one-on-one with a spiritual director who will accompany them wherever the Spirit leads them. Participants are also
welcome to join the Sisters for prayer, to walk the labyrinth, take in the art exhibit, explore the library or simply rest and
pray in the privacy of their own rooms. The sessions will be led by Benedictine Sisters Jackie Leiter and Virginia Matter.
Sister Jackie is a teacher in the St. Paul Public School system. Sister Virginia is a long-time teacher of Centering Prayer
and a spiritual director.
