Getting cozy with reading lists

Inquiring minds

Each week the staff at the Roseville Library answers more than 2,500 questions on every subject under the sun. Here is one of the most interesting ones they’ve gotten lately.

Q. Years ago you had a list of authors and book titles in the “Cozy” mystery category. They were mysteries without much violence. Do you still offer similar lists?

A.

You can now find reading suggestions in NoveList Plus, an online database that offers a wealth of advice to readers looking for a specific type of book like cozy mysteries. You can access NoveList remotely from our library’s website if you have a library card number.

One way to find more cozy mysteries on NoveList Plus is to choose the “Getting Cozy” option from the drop-down list under the “Mysteries” heading.

You can also find additional books you like by entering the name of a favorite author, then choosing the “Read-Alike” feature, which will suggest other authors who write in the same style or genre.

Keep in mind that NoveList Plus is not linked to the Ramsey County Library catalog so we may not own everything that you find on the database. But if you find a title you want that we do not own, we can probably get it for you from another library system through a process called Interlibrary Loan.

Talk to our staff about this or other questions you have about using NoveList Plus.
