NEWSBRIEF: Students can showcase creative ideas in Mayor for a Day essay contest

The 2018 “Mayor for a Day” essay contest is now open to all future leaders in fourth, fifth or sixth grade. The contest, hosted by the League of Minnesota Cities, invites students to share how they would improve a city service or program.

Each year the League receives hundreds of imaginative ideas from students living in cities both big and small.  All essays must be handwritten, original works and postmarked to the League by Oct. 12. Three winners will be selected and awarded $100 each, and three additional essayists will receive honorable mention. Winning essays will be published in Minnesota Cities magazine. Winners only will be notified by Dec. 1.
