RASP selling Metro Dining Club cards

The Roseville Area Senior Program (RASP) is selling boxes of Metro Dining Club (MDC) cards. Each box contains 166 cards for popular restaurants in the north and northeast suburbs, as well as Minneapolis and St. Paul. Each restaurant offers a card so two people dining can receive the second meal free each month for a full year. MDC cards can be purchased for $25 at the RASP office at 1910 County Road B in Roseville. For more information call 651-604-3520. Proceeds assist in funding Roseville Meals on Wheels, RASP transportation, and educational programming and services for older adults. RASP serves older adults throughout Roseville, Little Canada, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale and parts of Maplewood, Shoreview and Arden Hills. 

 

‘Coffee 

with a Cop’

Grab a “Coffee with a Cop” with St. Anthony police officers on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lauderdale Community Park pavilion, 1885 Fulham St. The informal, family-oriented event has no agenda and is an opportunity to talk to a police officer about whatever you wish. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Lauderdale City Hall, 1891 Walnut St. Roseville police are holding their own “Coffee with a Cop” event on Oct. 3 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The Grateful Table, 2804 Fairview Ave.

 

Shoreview Community Garden Club presentation

The Shoreview Community Garden Club is hosting speaker Bob “Organic Bob” Dahm at the Shoreview Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 3, starting at 7 p.m. Dahm specializes in organic lawn, flowers and landscape management. Falcon Heights FD open house

The Falcon Heights Fire Department is holding an open house on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department, located at 2077 Larpenteur Ave. Put on by the Falcon Heights Firefighters Relief Association, the event will include a stove fire demo, fire truck tours, kids’ activities, a bounce house, fire safety tips and more. Shepherd of the Hills hosts Augsburg singers concert

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is hosting the Augsburg Centennial Singers Concert on Sunday, Oct. 7, starting at 7 p.m. The Augsburg Centennial Singers are a 50-voice male chorus that sings sacred and patriotic music in acapella and with instrumental accompaniment. Lake Owasso Garden Club event

The Lake Owasso Garden Club event “Introduction to Phenology” will be at Centennial United Methodist Church on Monday, Oct. 8, starting at 7 p.m. Come and learn about local phenology with Matt Schutt, a naturalist from the Minnesota Arboretum. For those new to the topic, phenology is the study of seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and local plant and animal life. Irondale High School Choir fall concert

The Irondale High School Choir Department presents its Fall Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 9, starting at 7:30 p.m. The concert features the varsity men’s and women’s choirs, Knightingales choir and the concert choir. Shoreview Library hosts climate presentation

The Shoreview Library is hosting Dr. Mike Menzel’s presentation, “Consequences of Climate Change on Public Health in Minnesota,” on Thursday, Oct. 11, starting at 7 p.m. Menzel is a member of Health Professionals for a Healthy Climate, a nonprofit think tank engaged in educating both health care professionals and the general public about the consequences of climate change on public health. Menzel is a retired anesthesiologist with 34 years experience at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He has a special interest in air pollution and respiratory disease. He is a member of the environmental task force of the Twin Cities Medical Society. The event is sponsored by North Ramsey County Climate Actions. Mounds View Lions spaghetti dinner

The Mounds View Lions Club is holding its annual spaghetti dinner on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Kraus Hartig VFW, 8100 Pleasent View Drive NE in Spring Lake Park. All proceeds stay in the community.

New Brighton Area Historical Society harvest dinner

The New Brighton Area Historical Society is hosting its 22nd annual harvest dinner at the New Brighton Eagles Club on Sunday, Oct. 14, starting at 1 p.m. Residents in the 55112 ZIP code area aged 80 and older receive a complimentary turkey dinner. The price for people younger than 80 is $8. Entertainment will be provided by Jack Canfield and his 4 Plus Band. Reservations are necessary before Oct. 7. Sunrise United Methodist Church fall craft fair and bake sale

The Sunrise United Methodist Church fall craft fair and bake sale is on Saturday, Oct. 27, starting at 9 a.m. There will be craft vendors, baked goods, a silent auction and quilt raffle. Home-baked rolls and coffee will be available from 9 to 11 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be grilled chicken breast, homemade mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, stuffed mushrooms and pie for desert. St. Anthony Library hosts author talk

St. Anthony Library is hosting author William Kent Krueger’s presentation “Why Books Matter” on Sunday, Oct. 28, starting at 6:30 p.m. Krueger is a New York Times bestseller and the author of of over ten books. Books sales and signing will be available after the presentation, which is co-sponsored by the Friends of St. Anthony Library and the Legacy of St. Anthony.  St. Anthony Library is located at 2941 Pentagon Drive in St. Anthony. Holiday craft sale at Fairview Community Center

The Roseville Gift and Craft Shoppe annual holiday sale is Thursday to Saturday, Oct. 25-27, at the Fairview Community Center, 1910 County Road B in Roseville. The hours are Thursday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can shop for hundreds of holiday items such as baked goods, pottery, wood toys and game boards, weaving, jewelry, clothing, photography, winter mittens and hats, holiday decorations and more. The Roseville Gift and Craft Shoppe has been serving the community for more than 40 years.
