Do not eat fish from Lake Elmo and all bodies of water in Lake Elmo Park Reserve. Based on updated testing, the Minnesota Department of Health has issued a fish consumption advisory for Lake Elmo due to high levels of perfluoroalkyl substances, also called PFAS.

Swimming and drinking water are not affected. MDH has determined that exposure to PFAS through swimming is not of concern. Drinking water from wells in the Lake Elmo Park Reserve are tested regularly and meet MDH health standards.

Those who were following previous MDH guidelines for eating fish from Lake Elmo have minimal risk of health effects from PFAS.

For questions, call MDH at 800-657-3908 or the Department of Natural Resources area fisheries office at 651-259-5831.
