LETTER: Sen. Klobuchar should break deadlock around climate change

To the Editor:

Recent testimony from Olympic athletes reminds us of the threats of climate change. News from Arizona, where solar energy with storage is cheaper than natural gas prices, shows that we have the technology we need. The problem is political. For too long, climate change has been partisan and toxic. That is beginning to change. 35 Republicans and 35 Democrats are now members of the H ouse’s Bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus.

In Minnesota, we are blessed to have Sen. Amy Klobuchar. She cares deeply about us, protecting our climate, and working productively across the aisle. In the Senate, she has gained respect and is widely viewed as someone that you can work with to get things done. Sen. Klobuchar should use her position to break the Senate’s partisan deadlock around climate change. It will not be an easy task, but if she does it, Minnesotans and the climate will be grateful.
