Members of the West St. Paul Police Department, their families, school district staff and residents got into the holiday spirit early this year by hosting Heroes and Helpers. On Dec. 3, 60 kids from 24 families had the chance to go shopping with officers and firefighters. Back at the police department, kids had a holiday party they will remember, including a visit from Santa and his elf, as well as the Vulcans and Winter Carnival royal family. There was story time, arts and crafts for the kids, board games to play and wrapping of presents. All kids were given a Christmas ornament. Laura Vaughan, crime prevention specialist, said the event wouldn’t have happened without the help of the “awesome” businesses and residents of West St. Paul.
