Falcon Heights

Dine and dash

Staff of The Fresh Wok in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue called police June 20 when a woman was yelling inside the restaurant and then left without paying for the food she’d ordered. Though police were unable to locate the woman, her belongings were found back at the restaurant. 

 

Don’t text and drive 

Police stopped a driver at Larpenteur and Fairview avenues June 19 after spotting the person behind the wheel texting. The driver was issued a verbal warning. 

 

Theft 

A 66-year-old man’s catalytic converter was stolen off his vehicle while it was parked in the 1600 block of Coffman Street June 19. He’s out out about $350. 

 

A package delivered to an address in the 1500 block of Crawford Avenue was reported missing June 19 by a the 31-year-old woman. According to the woman, a mail thief likely intercepted the delivery and now she’s out $70. 

 

Traffic 

On June 23, officers stopped nearly 10 vehicles, mostly along Larpenteur Avenue in Falcon Heights, for having defective lights — whether brake, rear plate or headlights. Most drivers were issued verbal warnings. Two drivers were arrested.

 A 24-year-old man pulled over at Larpenteur and Snelling avenues was arrested for driving after revocation and having a broken license plate light.

A 35-year-old woman pulled over at Hamline and Ruggles avenues was arrested for a number of violations, including driving after revocation, having no proof of insurance, and having defective brake lights.  

 

Lauderdale

Arrests

A female driver was pulled over at Larpenteur Avenue and Eustis Street June 20. The 23-year-old woman was arrested for fifth-degree controlled substance — police found non-prescribed pills on her. Her passenger was released with a citation for petty misdemeanor possession for having a small amount of marijuana. 

 

A 56-year-old man stopped by police for speeding on Highway 280 near Larpenteur Avenue June 21 was arrested for not having insurance and for driving after revocation.

 

On June 22, a 43-year-old man was pulled over and arrested in the 1700 block of Walnut Street for driving after having his license suspended, having no proof of insurance, and no driver’s license.

 

A 29-year-old man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana inside his vehicle, after he’d been stopped for speeding on Highway 280 near Larpenteur Avenue June 24. He also had drug paraphernalia in the car. 

 

Heater heist 

An employee of a ski and sauna shop in the 2400 block of Larpenteur Avenue called police June 21 after realizing someone had stolen the heater from inside a display sauna that was located outside the business. The shop is out $707. 

 

Mounds View 

Assault

Police cited a 38-year-old man in the 2200 block of Mounds View Boulevard for assault on July 5. 

 

Disturbance 

A 28-year-old man was arrested in the 5700 block of Quincy Street July 3 for harassment, making terroristic threats, criminal damage to property and fleeing police officers.  

 

Theft 

A 43-year-old woman had a pair of $60 tennis shoes stolen from her car while it was parked in the 2500 block of Mounds View Drive June 29. 

 

Staff at the Holiday gas station in the 2700 block of Mounds View Boulevard called police June 29 to report that a would-be customer took off after pumping $40 worth of gas, without paying. 

 

Police received a report from a 43-year-old woman in the 5100 block of Program Avenue about her bicycle being stolen June 30.

 

A 52-year-old woman’s car was broken into in the 2600 block of County Road H2 July 3. She told police that some change and a credit card were missing.

 

Vandalism 

Skyline Motel in the 4800 block of Old Highway 8 called police to report some $500 worth of damage done to a vending machine at the business June 29. 

 

On July 3, police responded to a park in the 2300 block of Knoll Drive after someone reported finding damage to a bridge there.

 

Police issued a citation for criminal damage to property to a 26-year-old man after he damaged the doors and locks of a woman’s home in the 5400 block of Landmark Circle July 4. 

 

St. Anthony

A liquor run

A man ran out of the municipal liquor store in the 2600 block of 39th Avenue with an un-paid-for bottle of liquor June 19. Staff called police and officers located the still-fleeing man nearby. Because he refused to stop, officers used a Taser to end the chase. The suspect, identified as a 26-year-old, was cited for misdemeanor theft and fleeing police and was booked at the Ramsey County Jail on an outstanding Ramsey County misdemeanor DWI warrant. 

 

Arrests 

An 18-year-old male provided police false information while at the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road June 20. For that, the man was booked at the Hennepin County Jail. 

 

A 30-year-old man was pulled over at Silver Lake Road and 39th Avenue and was arrested for driving after revocation, having no proof of insurance and having expired registration tabs. 

 

Burglary 

A 40-year-old man woke up in the middle of the night June 22 to the sounds of someone inside his home. The intruder immediately fled the house, in the 2800 block of Silver Lane, when the homeowner woke up, but was able to nab a laptop, two cameras, some keys, work gloves, credit cards and cash, a total value of about $2,000. Police arrived and found that there was no forced entry; they also found the laptop, one of the cameras and the gloves in a neighbor’s yard. 

 

A 47-year-old man called police June 22 to report that his home had been entered via the attached garage. Hearing the homeowner stir from sleep, the suspects grabbed the keys to a 2016 Ram truck and a 2015 Buick truck and zoomed off, just in time for the victim to spot them head down the street from his home in the 4000 block of Macalaster Drive. The victim also sighted a third suspect out on the street get into a different vehicle and leave the area. 

In addition to the two vehicles, the suspects took two laptop computers, as well as the man’s wallet and credit cards from his home.  

Officers checked the area and one of the laptops was located in a nearby yard. The Ram truck was later located in New Brighton, parked and unoccupied, and the victim’s stolen wallet was found near the truck, with its contents intact. The Buick was also located, parked and unoccupied, in St. Anthony. A purse, reported stolen in a separate incident, was found inside the vehicle. Both of the trucks were impounded and processed by the Hennepin County Crime Lab. Stolen items related to other burglaries were recovered inside the vehicles and returned to the owners. 

 

A 45-year-old man called police from the 2700 block of 32nd Avenue June 22 to report he woke up to his dogs barking and growling and that he saw two male suspects run out of his residence. The residents of the home reported the loss of computer gaming equipment, cell phones, cash, credit cards and keys. The suspect used the keys to steal a vehicle that was parked on the street. Police entered the vehicle into the computer system as stolen and the vehicle was later recovered, unoccupied, in Minneapolis. 

 

On June 22, police received a burglary report from a 40-year-old woman in the 3400 block of Croft Drive. Police determined that entry was made through an unlocked door to her home. The victim reported the loss of a cell phone, wallet, laptop computer, iPad and cash — a total value of over $2,000. As it happened, a vehicle stolen from another residence earlier that same evening was located abandoned outside the woman’s home and all of her stolen property — except the cash — was recovered inside the vehicle.

 

Car break-in 

A 25-year-old woman told police someone rummaged through her vehicle when it was parked outside her apartment building in the 2800 block of Silver Lane June 22. 

 

Shoplifting

Staff at Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road called police after spotting two teens leave the grocery store without paying for merchandise June 23. Later that day, New Brighton police located the teens in the city and, after a short foot chase, they were both taken into custody. According to New Brighton police, the two female teenagers, both 15, were also suspects in another, separate incident that took place in New Brighton. The stolen merchandise — about $58 worth — was returned to Cub and they were both cited for misdemeanor theft.
