Joe Senser’s: Sports on the TVs, the Cities’ best burgers on your plate

Nothing about Joe Senser’s Sports Theater in Roseville is mediocre.

At Senser’s, you’ll find all your favorite sports bar foods, and much, much more.

“We’re constantly changing the menu,” says General Manager Tom Horwath. “We have all the basics, but our signature dishes you can’t get anywhere else.”

Senser’s is known for its specialty burgers, and the popular classics stay on the menu year after year. Like the “MVP,” a handmade patty topped with creamy aged Wisconsin cheddar, prime-cut smoked peppered bacon, sweet caramelized onions and a house-made bourbon BBQ sauce. Or try the “Black & Bleu,” a savory burger dusted with Cajun seasoning, covered with cave-aged blue cheese, sweet caramelized onions, creamy aged Wisconsin cheddar cheese and garlic aioli.

“We think we’ve got the best burgers in town,” Tom says of Senser’s 15-plus burger options. “We’ve been around 29 years in the same location, and there are a lot of people who would agree.”

Not in the mood for a burger? No problem! Senser’s has pizzas, flatbreads and other mouthwatering entrees to suit any set of taste buds. From tasty wraps like the Baja Chicken or the Asian Chop, served with a selection of fresh fruit, to the Hickory Pulled Pork sandwich, Senser’s has something for everyone.

Then there’s Senser’s specialty dishes, which are sure to make your next event extra memorable.  Their signature wood roasted chicken and fall off the bone baby back ribs are some of their fan favorites!

The restaurant offers a private room for rehearsal or groom’s dinners, team banquets, corporate luncheons or company happy hours. And in the warmer months, Senser’s two garage doors open up to a patio that can seat an additional 70, so you can sit inside or out and still watch the game.

Senser’s also has a catering menu for golf tournaments, weddings, graduation parties, fundraisers, Little League banquets and is one of the preferred caterers of TCF Bank Stadium.

What could be better than eating delicious food? Doing it in front of one of the gigantic 5-by-9 foot HDTV screens lining the restaurant walls.

Senser’s is known as the “next best thing to being in the stands,” and has been voted as one of the “Top 25 Sports Bars” in the country by ESPN. It’s also one of Sports Illustrated’s “Best Places to Watch the Game When You Don’t Have a Ticket.”

So whether you’re looking to watch Gopher sports, Wild hockey, Twins action, Timberwolves match-ups, or Vikings football, Senser’s has you covered with all of the major sports packages.

To keep up with the craft beer enthusiasm of the last few years, Senser’s has 20 rotating varieties on tap. The establishment also features a discounted craft beer of the month, and has changing beer flights so people can try them all. On Minnesota Mondays Senser’s features all local craft brews on special and Tuesday nights any draft mug is only $4.50.

Senser’s happy hour is from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and features a full cocktail menu and all wines, and a new late night happy hour menu that runs from 10 p.m. to close Tuesday to Saturday with pizzas, hoagies and appetizers until 1:30 in the morning.

“Between the happy hour specials, lunch specials, dinner specials ... there is always something going on whether it’s a game day or not,” Tom says, adding the restaurant also offers lunch combinations like a pizza/salad option. For frequent lunch-goers in the area they have a “buy nine and get the tenth one free” lunch club card.

Senser’s also charters busses to Vikings and Gopher games, and the large summer concerts like the upcoming Guns N’ Roses show at U.S. Bank Stadium, Billy Joel at Target Field, and also the Winter Carnival Beer Dabbler.

The restaurant also reaches out to the local community in many ways — working with Roseville Area High School sports teams and sponsoring softball teams, even coordinating and hosting a volleyball league.

It’s no wonder Senser’s two locations — Roseville and Bloomington — are such a success.

Check them out for your next special occasion, big game, or simply a tasty meal. And keep an eye on Senser’s Facebook for upcoming events and updates.
