Falcon Heights

Drugs, run

Following a short chase Jan. 9, a 23-year-old man was apprehended at Snelling and Hoyt avenues. He was arrested for felony fifth-degree possession — police found Ecstacy and marijuana on him — as well as for fleeing from police in a car, and was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Grinch move

A 33-year old woman reported the Christmas Eve theft of a package off her doorstep a couple weeks after it happened. The contents were worth about $300. She reported the theft from the 1800 block of Pascal Street, Jan. 14.

Hanging on the telephone

Purse smash and grab

Someone broke into a 29-year-old woman’s car Jan. 9, smashing out a window on it while it was parked in the 1600 block of Snelling Avenue at a learning center. The thief took her purse, which contained a bit of cash, credit cards and her medication. By the time the woman reported the theft, her credit card had already been used. The damage to her car was estimated at $300.

Running on empty promise

A motorist who filled up with $15 worth of gas at the SuperAmerica in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue Jan. 11 told employees she couldn’t pay, but would come back and do so. She never did. When police became involved, she paid.

So you had a bad day ...

A person stopped at Larpenteur and Cleveland avenues Jan. 9 was seemingly so discombobulated that even the police report bears out the confusion of the incident, for which the person received a verbal warning. The police report, in whole, reads, “Speed-Exceed Posted Limit, Headlights-Two lit when reqd, Seatbelt-No Child Seat, Traffic - Intersection gridlock -Stop or block traffic, OBSTRUCTING-LEGAL PROCESS, DISORDERLY-OFFENSIVE-OBSCENE.”

Little Canada

Assault

A 49-year-old woman flagged down police Jan. 20 and told them she’d been assaulted by her 59-year-old male ex-coworker. She’d invited the man over to her home. When the man wanted to have sex with her and after she refused, he became angry and kicked her in the ankle. The woman told police she didn’t want to press charges but wanted to make a record of the incident in case she had future issues with the man.

Burglar makes off with mailbox keys

Someone pried open the door to the management office at the senior living apartments in the 2800 block of Market Place Drive before Jan. 18, stealing an office computer, records and mailbox keys, which could potentially be used in the future. The thief or thieves also made off with a carpet shampooer. Police found an item that the intruder had handled and swabbed it for DNA; there are no suspects in the burglary.

The day before, a 68-year-old woman who lives in the complex reported someone broke into her apartment, making off with a pillowcase full of her belongings. The prowler stole jewelry and cash and a $150 jacket.

Thefts on

Allen Avenue

Early the morning of Jan. 18 in the 400 block of Allen Avenue, a 76-year-old man saw an unfamiliar person going into his neighbor’s garage — the door had been left open overnight. The stranger was seen attempting to get into the neighbor’s car. When police arrived, the homeowner pointed out several things were missing, including books and tools.
