Half-way crook in Falcon Heights

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports January 10, 2017

Falcon Heights

Attempted Gringe moves

A Lauderdale/Falcon Heights Lions Club member told police Dec. 18 that someone had broken into a park building in Falcon Heights Community Park near where the club was holding its Christmas tree sale. The burglar stole a cash box — luckily it contained no cash.

Burglary

Someone broke into a house in the 1700 block of Snelling Avenue sometime before Dec. 19 — a friend of the family that was about to move into the place let the soon-to-be residents know. Though the burglar forced their way in, nothing was reported as stolen.

A 34-year-old man told police Dec. 22 that someone broke into his locked garage in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue and stole tools and a tent — that much he could tell right off the bat. He’s doing a full inventory of the garage and will let police know.

Don’t text and drive

The motorist stopped at Snelling and Larpenteur avenues Dec. 12 got off with a verbal warning, but let’s be clear: Don’t text and drive.

Drunk at the sandwich shop

Employees at the Jimmy Johns in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue called police Dec. 12 because an intoxicated man refused to leave the sandwich shop. That was all it took — police said the man wasn’t doing too bad and transported him home.

DWI

A 20-year-old Roseville man scored a trip to the Ramsey County Jail Dec. 18 after he was pulled over at Arona Street and Larpenteur Avenue and arrested for third-degree driving while intoxicated. He blew over the legal limit of .08 and was also booked for underage drinking and driving.

A 24-year-old Roseville man was taken to the Ramsey County Jail Dec. 23 after being stopped at Snelling and Larpenteur avenues and being arrested for fourth-degree DWI. He blew a .14.

Half-way crook

Ain’t no such thing as a half-way crook — though employees at the BP gas station in the 1600 block of Snelling Avenue encountered one Dec. 15. They told police someone paid for gas and some merchandise but then gaffled bottles of antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid and left. Police were given a description of the thief and the person’s license plate number; the gas station is out $17.44.

Snowy mess

The storm that dropped snow on Falcon Heights into Dec. 17 had parking enforcers plenty busy — they issued 38 citations for after-snow parking violations.

What not to do

A 35-year-old man told police he left his car unlocked Dec. 17 at the SuperAmerica in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue and went inside the gas station to pay. When he came back minutes later someone had stolen his backpack out of the back seat of the car — his laptop and headphones were in the bag. Police were not given an estimation of the loss.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 30-year-old woman was arrested and cited Dec. 19 for driving with a revoked license, driving an uninsured car, no proof of insurance, expired registration and for having a cracked windshield.

Burglary

Someone forced their way into a garage in the 1700 block of Carl Street sometime before Dec. 13, as reported by an 85-year-old home owner. She told police the burglar stole a tool box — there was no estimation of the value of the tools.

DWI

A 23-year-old Minneapolis woman was stopped at Larpenteur Avenue and Eustis Street Dec. 17 and blew a .15 alcohol concentration. She was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for fourth-degree DWI, as well as an equipment violation, for which she was likely pulled over.

Graffiti

Someone tagged the back of the Super USA store in the 2400 block of Larpenteur Avenue sometime before Dec. 24.

Little Canada

Bad trip

A pair of 22-year-olds — a woman from Little Canada and a man from Welch, Minnesota — were arrested the night of Jan. 1 after they were found in the 100 block of Big Circle Drive flailing around in someone’s yard and slipping on ice while trying to get into their car. Police were sure they were on some mind-altering substance, though the couple refused to say what. They were searched and found to have pills and weed; they were booked at the Ramsey County Jail for possession and disorderly conduct.

Bad trip II

The technical term is “breach of trust motor vehicle theft.” Here’s what happened: A 32-year-old man stole his 41-year-old ex-girlfriend’s rental car from the 100 block of Big Circle Drive Jan. 3, drove it to Duluth, and left it there.

Shots fired?

The evening of Dec. 30 someone called police from the 2400 block of McMenemy Street to report that they heard 15 shots fired, though when police showed up they found no one else in the neighborhood had heard anything, and chalked up the noise to fireworks.
