Parking emergency, 51 times over in Falcon Heights

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports December 27, 2016.

Falcon Heights

Arrest warrant

Police arrested a 19-year-old woman in the 1400 block of Hoyt Avenue Dec. 7. The woman was wanted for a felony theft warrant out of Hennepin County. She was booked at said county’s jail.

Broken window

A 28-year-old man told police someone smashed a window out of his car as it was parked in the 1700 block of Larpenteur Avenue and rummaged through it Dec. 8. The vandal apparently didn’t take anything, but did cause $200 worth of damage in the process.

Car recovery

Doing their rounds in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Ave. Dec. 9, police found a car that was stolen out of St. Paul, so they sent it along to impound.

Open garage

Someone walked into a garage in the 1800 block of Simpson Street Dec. 8 and presumably rode off on a riding lawnmower valued at $1,500. A 68-year-old woman called in the theft of her son’s mower — she said some work is being done on the house so the garage door was frequently open.

Parking emergency, 51 times over

The snow storm that trailed off into Dec. 11 was a boon for parking enforcement in Falcon Heights. Police issued 51 citations to cars parked throughout the 2.25 square-mile city for, to quote police reports, “Parking-FH Prohibited after 2-inch snowfall.” Plan accordingly.

Stolen and found

Seemingly out $3,000, the value of her 90s Honda Civic or Accord as of Dec. 8, the 28-year-old woman who reported the car stolen from the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue, was in luck as of Dec. 10, when the car turned up in St. Paul. Too bad she’ll have to pay to get it out of St. Paul impound.

Take the bottle and leave

Three guys walked into Merwin Liquors in the 1500 block of Snelling Avenue Dec. 10 and at least two of them walked out with bottles of liquor without paying. The cost of the booze was totaled at $39.40 — employees jotted down the license plate number of the car they rode off in but  attempts to talk to the owner of said vehicle aren’t working.

Lauderdale

Yet another stolen car

Police found a stolen car with no one in it Dec. 9 at apartments in the 1600 block of Eustis Street. It was stolen out of St. Paul, so it was sent to St. Paul impound.

Phone scam with few details

A 78-year-old woman told police Dec. 8 she was the victim of a phone scam — to the tune of how much, the police report did not say — though according to her credit card company she’ll be reimbursed.

SuperAmerica beer bust

The 48-year-old clerk at the SuperAmerica in the 2400 block of Larpenteur Avenue failed the alcohol compliance check Dec. 9 when she sold beer to an underage person. Police said the gross misdemeanor citation was in the mail.

Little Canada

Police reports out of Little Canada were not available this week because of short deadlines.

Roseville

Faiview Avenue head-on crash update

There are few new details regarding the Dec. 2 head-on crash that happened on Fairview Avenue at Roselawn Avenue after a man drove off Highway 36 and sped down Fairview at speeds of 100 mph, driving on the wrong side of the road before hitting another driver, leaving that man in a medically induced coma. Roseville police identified the speeding driver as 49-year-old Michael Flodine and authorities are waiting for the Minnesota State Patrol to complete its reconstruction of the crash, before the investigation moves further.
