Falcon Heights

Arrest

Following a Sept. 10 traffic stop at Larpenteur and Fairview avenues, a 20-year-old man was arrested and cited for driving with a suspended license. He’d have likely avoided the trip to the Ramsey County Jail had it not been for his outstanding Hennepin County warrant for having no proof of insurance on demand.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested and cited Sept. 10 at Roselawn and Hamline avenues for failing to stop at a stop sign and for tampering with the ignition interlock on her car.

Detox

Police picked up an extremely intoxicated 38-year-old woman Sept. 9 in the 1700 block of Snelling Avenue. She blew a .377 alcohol concentration, which is more than four times the legal limit to drive. She was taken to Ramsey County detox.

False information to police, twice over

Police were called Sept. 11 regarding a suspicious car parked in the lot of the BP in the 1600 block of Snelling Avenue. The driver of the car initially lied about her identity to police, and complained about extreme pain, while refusing medical attention. Police identified the driver as 35-year-old woman who had an outstanding Washington County warrant for giving false information to police. Police called an ambulance for the woman, who was taken to the hospital. The 35-year-old will be charged by a formal complaint for giving false information to police.

Lauderdale

Intoxicated person

A 32-year-old man passed out on a bus in the 1600 block of Eustis Street Sept. 5. Police gave him a breath test and he blew a .207 alcohol concentration. While police attempted to take him off the bus, he “became resistant,” as said in the police report. Police called an ambulance and the man was taken to the hospital.

Nearly all the violations

Police stopped a 31-year-old man at Larpenteur and 33rd avenues Sept. 10. He was arrested and cited for driving an uninsured vehicle, no proof of insurance, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, failing to transfer the vehicle’s title and for having expired registration.

Stolen car/recovered car

Shortly after the 48-year-old owner of a 1999 Honda told police his car had been stolen overnight into Sept. 8 from an apartment parking lot in the 1600 block of Carl Street, St. Paul police tracked down the car, being driven around by a 21-year-old man. The car’s owner will get his car back and the 21-year-old will be charged regarding the theft.

The tea-drinking prowler

The couple who lives in an apartment in the 2300 block of Larpenteur Avenue told police Sept. 11 someone had entered their apartment, but the person didn’t take anything. Instead, it appears the intruder slept in their bed and drank some tea. Police collected evidence and interviewed neighbors who might have seen strange activity.

A Bobcat loader was removed from a construction site in the 100 block of Demont Avenue Sept. 14. Lo and behold, it was later found in a Vadnais Heights backyard that’s more than two and a half miles away from the worksite. The backyard belongs to a man who was working at the construction site — he said he’d brought it home simply to fix its tires.

The ‘In jail in a foreign country’ scheme

An 84-year-old man and his 80-year-old wife told police Sept. 15 they were out $1,100 after a scammer called them reporting their grandson was in jail in the Dominican Republic, and only wired cash would free him. The grandparents sent the cash, only to be told by the scammer that more would be necessary to get their grandchild out of jail. Sensing the fishiness of the situation, they called their grandson, finding he was free and doing fine in Denver.

Someone stole hard hats and other construction equipment from a garage in the 400 block of Labore Road as reported by the 35-year-old owner of the stuff on Sept. 18. The owner told police he thinks the thief entered the garage through a hole in the wall.
