Huskies face tall task in week four

The St. Anthony Village High School football team has struggled to hold its opponents’ point totals down so far this season. The 0-3 Huskies are giving up an average of 40 points per game.

That doesn’t bode well for St. Anthony in its week-four match-up against St. Croix Lutheran. The Crusaders enter Friday’s game at Dennison Field averaging 45 points per game.

St. Croix Lutheran (3-0) scored a season-high 55 points in its win last week over St. Paul Highland Park. The Crusaders also own victories over New Life Academy and Providence Academy this season.

The Huskies enter Friday’s game having lost its last six games to St. Croix Lutheran. St. Anthony’s most recent victory over the Crusaders came in 2010.

St. Anthony played its closest game of the season last week but came up short in its quest for its first victory of the season. The Huskies fell 34-28 to Minneapolis Washburn after losing their first two games by 16 and 37 points.

One of St. Anthony’s touchdowns against the Millers was shown on national television over the weekend. Coming back from a commercial break during the Vikings-Packers game on Sunday, NBC ran a few highlights from the St. Anthony game. One of the clips showed St. Anthony senior Jon Moen slash through the Washburn defense for a touchdown.
