On Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m., learn how to set up a LinkedIn account, create a complete profile, and use LinkedIn for career advancement. 

Taking place at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave., this event is presented by the Science Museum of Minnesota Computer Education Center and sponsored by the Metropolitan Library Service Agency. Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!

The Story Man from England will present a highly interactive program that will have kids starting their engines and get ready to zoom on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 10:15 to 11 a.m., 

Children ages 2 to 8 will hear stories, songs and get their first driving lesson at the South St. Paul Public Library, 106 Third Ave. N. Call 651-554-3240 for more information. 

 

Older Adults Living 

Thompson Park Activity Center is hosting a forum to help people learn about living options in the Twin Cities for older adults. 

The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. Topics covered will include how to pay for senior living, factors to consider when moving into a senior living community, services provided, and the pros and cons of different living options. Thompson Park Activity Center is located at 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. 

Registration is needed by Sept. 13. Cost is $3 for the session. Call 651-403-8300 to register.

 

Growing Your Family Tree

On Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., Kim Ashford will present the different options for sharing family history information online and the benefits of using software and online resources together. 

Sponsored by the Dakota County Genealogical Society, the Growing Your Family Tree presentation will take place at the Dakota County Historical Society, 130 Third Ave. N., South St. Paul.

Homeschool meetup

Looking to connect with other homeschooling families in the area? Wanting to bounce questions or experiences off other parents? Looking for ideas or materials to enrich your studies. Inver Glen events

Come to the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave., and put your programing skills to the test with our Sphero Robots on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Learn to program the Sphero bots using the MacroLab app, then put them on the track to race for the fastest time. Equipment is limited. Ages: 10-16.  

Visit the library for Rubber Stamp Greeting Cards on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 6 to 8 p.m. Stamp all-occasion cards and receive take-home instructions to make custom envelopes. Presented by the Friends of the Inver Glen Library. Registration required.

Join the Inver Glen Library and the Story Man from England for Flying Fun on Thursday, Sept. 15 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Flying isn’t just for the birds; explore how planes, rockets, and superheroes take to the skies. Ages: 2-8.

Come to the Inver Glen Library for Mother Goose Olympics on Saturday, Sept. 17, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Compete in races and games with nursery rhyme themes. Prizes will be awarded. Presented by the Friends of the Inver Glen Library. Ages: 3-5.

Monarch Migration

Monarch butterflies, the state insect, will be the subject of a Dodge Nature Center program on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Attendees will use nets to detain the creatures briefly for gathering scientific data as the butterflies leave on a journey to the mountains of Central Mexico. They will then harvest milkweed pods and spread seeds at the nature center, with some left for their families to plant at home in their yards. 

Pre-registration is required.  Cost is $7 per person or a family rate of $20. This event will take place at the Dodge Nature Center Farm Education Entrance, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul.
