Falcon Heights

Arrest

Various people were arrested and cited for speeding and other violations, such as driving with a suspended license, in the Larpenteur Avenue and Snelling Avenue corridors Aug. 1-7.

Police scooped up a 46-year-old man from apartments in the 1700 block of Larpenteur Avenue for an outstanding Ramsey County warrant for violating a no contact order. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Assault

Police were told a group of men were beating up another man at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street on Aug. 1. Police tracked down the victim, who was identified as a 33-year-old, though they didn’t find the group of men. The man who was assaulted, per the police report, “refused to cooperate or accept medical attention.”

Dispute resolution

During protests at Falcon Heights City Hall in the 2000 block of Larpenteur Avenue Aug. 1, police were told that unwanted individuals at the protests were causing problems. Police saw different groups of people arguing and intervened; after talking to officers, some people from one of the groups volunteered to leave for the evening.

Domestic assault

A 42-year-old woman told police Aug. 2 that she was assaulted by her 52-year-old boyfriend. The man had left the scene prior to police arriving, so officers put out an “attempt to locate” message, telling other officers the man, who had been identified, should be arrested and charged with fifth-degree domestic assault.

DWI

Officers responded to a car accident Aug. 6 at Larpenteur and Snelling avenues and one of the drivers involved, a 19-year-old man from St. Paul, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. After the drivers exchanged information, the 19-year-old was taken to the Ramsey County Jail. The man could face additional charges pending the results of a blood test.

Gas/go

A driver thought the coast was clear after stealing $21 worth of gas from the BP in the 1600 block of Snelling Avenue Aug. 6, but a station employee got a good look at the driver and their car’s license plate number. Based on that info, police mailed the person a citation for misdemeanor theft.

Graffiti

A 33-year-old man told police Aug. 3 that someone had spray-painted the side of his garage in the 1800 block of Pascal Street. The cost to get rid of the paint is not known.

Theft

Someone broke into a car in the 1300 block of Iowa Avenue Aug. 7 and stole a 26-year-old woman’s car stereo. She’s out $700 — replacing the window and the radio will each cost her $350.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 20-year-old man was arrested and cited at Highway 280 and Larpenteur Avenue Aug. 3 for speeding, driving with a suspended license and for displaying prohibited colored lights on the roadway. A day later at the same spot, a 22-year-old man was arrested and cited for driving with a suspended license and an equipment violation.

Theft

The father of a 24-year-old man reported the theft of $2,140 worth of camera equipment Aug. 4 from a house in the 2400 block of Roselawn Avenue. Police were given the serial numbers of the equipment in case it turns up at a pawn shop.

Someone stole a $300 bike that was chained to a rack in the 1600 block of Carl Street, reported the bike’s owner — a 29-year-old man — on Aug. 4.

Little Canada

Assault

A 33-year-old man from Spring Lake Park who’d just left a watering hole on Rice Street to walk home early in the morning of Aug. 3 was approached by another man, who the 33-year-old recognized from the bar. The man asked the 33-year-old for money, he said he had none — the man then punched the Spring Lake Park resident twice in the ear, causing him to fall. The attacker then went through the victim’s wallet and found he had no money. The man left the wallet and walked off, evidently uninterested in stealing his victim’s credit cards or cell phone.

Burglary

Someone broke into two businesses in the 2700 block of Rice Street sometime before Aug. 14 by forcing in a back window. The burglar took cash from each of the business’s cash registers — the tailor shop lost $250, and the salon lost an unknown amount. The burglar or burglars damaged the window they came in through and doors inside the building.

Hostage car

Someone broke the handle off a garage door at apartments in the 400 block of Labore Road, prompting a 20-year-old man to call police Aug. 14 since he couldn’t get to his car inside the garage. Police advised the man to contact the apartment’s property manager, since police would have to do the same thing.

Panhandler problem

Police were told someone was outside the shopping center in the 2900 block of Rice Street Aug. 15 harassing people and asking them for money. However, when police showed up, the person was gone.

The car theft came from inside the house

A 49-year-old woman told police Aug. 13 that her car was stolen — it was parked on the street in front of her house and then gone. Her car keys, which had been hanging inside her house, were also gone. The woman told police that her 29-year-old female roommate hangs out with the wrong type of people, and suspects one of them, or her roommate, of having stolen the car.
