Tri-City Red’s Nickel earns district honor

The Fourth District American Legion baseball banquet took place on July 26 and one of the awards handed out that night went to Tri-City Red.

Tri-City won the Fourth District championship thanks in part to Ryan Nickel. The shortstop and pitcher was named the district most valuable player.

A Tri-City Red player has won the district MVP award for the past five seasons. The current streak started in 2012 when Max Knutson won it. In 2013 it was Sam Hentges, the 2014 award went to Ben Mezzenga and last year Alec Abercrombie took the home the honor.
