Nascent Hatfield and McCoy in Lauderdale

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports July 19, 2016.

Falcon Heights

Arrest

Police stopped a 25-year-old man at Arona Street and Idaho Avenue June 29 who was arrested and cited for having no valid driver’s license, no proof of insurance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and an equipment violation — typically a cracked windshield or a non-functioning light. His passenger, a 22-year-old man, was arrested and cited for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burglary

A business owner in the 1500 block of Hamline Avenue reported an intruder busted a door to gain access the evening of June 27. While the owner said nothing appeared to have been taken from the premises, it will cost about $500 to fix the door.

A 65-year-old man reported the theft of a bicycle from his garage in the 1800 block of Hamline Avenue July 1. The bike was valued at $200 and police have its serial number.

No more sound system

A 26-year-old woman reported the theft of an amplifier and speaker box from her car in the 1300 block of Iowa Avenue overnight into June 30. While she may still have a radio, the loss of the means to listen to it is estimated at $550.

Robbery

On June 27 two men barged into the dry cleaners in the 1400 block of Larpenteur Avenue and grabbed cash from the register, then ran off. Police searched the area but never tracked the men down; the loss was estimated at $100.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 38-year-old man was arrested June 29 at Larpenteur and 33rd avenues and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance — khat, a stimulant — and unidentified pills. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Stopped at Eustis Street and Como Avenue, a 30-year-old woman was arrested and cited for driving with a revoked license, having no proof of insurance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and for an open bottle.

Nascent Hatfield and McCoy

A property-line dispute in the 1700 block of Malvern Street became passive/aggressive June 29. A 38-year-old property owner told police his 52-year-old neighbor cut a property line string between the two guys’ plots. The elder man was charged with misdemeanor property damage.

Little Canada

Wayward BB shots

A 54-year-old woman told police she found three small circular cracks in her windshield July 3 at an apartment building in the 2900 block of Country Drive. None of the holes went all the way through the windshield. The woman said it might have been from a BB gun her neighbor shoots.

Car theft

In the late afternoon of July 3 at an apartment building in the 300 block of Labore Road, a 21-year-old heard what sounded like his car starting; he told police he got to his window just in time to see it being driven off by an unknown white male. Police are investigating the theft of a 2000 Honda Civic.

Robbery?

An 18-year-old Roseville man told police he was robbed in the CVS parking lot in the 2600 block of Rice Street early in the morning of July 1.

Security camera footage, though, tells a different story. The young man claimed he was approached by two other men in the lot. The 18-year-old said he’d had his head down and was looking at his phone, when the men said, “What’s up,” and immediately snatched the keys to his car. The 18-year-old said he then turned and ran to his grandmother’s house.

However, camera footage shows it differently. The three men chat on video for about 30 seconds, before the 18-year-old runs off. It’s unclear when the other men come into possession of the car keys, though the video shows one of the men placing the keys on the hood of the 18-year-old’s car, where they were later found.

Police are puzzling over what to do with the incident; the 18-year-old was not injured nor was anything, really, stolen from him.

Theft

A 28-year-old woman reported the theft of her purse from her apartment to police July 3. She said she had a suspect in mind: her 25-year-old boyfriend. The woman said the man frequently stole her stuff, so much so that she’d taken to sleeping on top of her purse at night. She told police she wanted the loss of the purse, which contained cash, bank cards, personal documents and her ID, to be documented by police, but that she didn’t want to press charges against the boyfriend.
