Roseville Area Youth Baseball recently held its C League tournament and the winner of the 14-team, double-elimination affair was the Braves.

Seeded second, the Braves put themselves behind the eight ball by losing their first game of the tournament. That forced the Braves to have to battle back through the losers bracket to reach the championship final.

Following the loss, the Braves rattled off five-straight victories to reach the final. Awaiting them in the championship round were the No. 1-seeded Red Sox. The Braves needed two wins over the Red Sox to win the tournament and that’s what they did.

The Red Sox finished first in the regular-season league standings and the Braves were the runners-up.

Little Canada finished third in the tournament and the Rangers took fourth.

The Braves’ roster is made up of the following players: Monty Adams, Wyatt Becker, Cyprus Britton, Nick Doerfler, Jack Elm, Daniel Harrington, Isaac Jensen, Alexander Joseph, Landon Martens, Isaiah Mrozinski, Charlie Mueller, Griffin Murphy, Shea Murphy and Cameren Santanni.

Head coach of the Braves is Eric Jensen, assistant coaches are Shea Murphy, Kermit Adams and Corey Doerfler and team manager is Jen Doerfler.

The tournament was held July 8-10 at Evergreen Park in Roseville.

Roseville Area Youth Baseball runs rec and travel leagues for players ages 6 through 19 and draws from the Roseville Area School District and surrounding communities such as North St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale and St. Anthony Village.
