Legion baseball season nears end

Although the calendar just turned over to July, the American Legion baseball season is rapidly coming to a conclusion. Rosetown enters the final two weeks of the regular season trying to finish in the top half of the Fourth District standings.

Rosetown’s final four district games are against teams below it in the standings.

Rosetown visits last-place White Bear on July 5 and hosts North St. Paul Cavalry on July 6. The Rockets then close out their district schedule by hosting Tri-City Maroon in a doubleheader on July 13. One of those games is a make-up of a rainout from June 14.

Rosetown entered last week’s games with an even district record (4-4) but dropped two games to teams higher in the standings. Third-place Hamline Purple topped the Rockets 7-2 on June 27 and district-leading Tri-City Red beat the Rockets 8-5 the next night.

Among Rosetown’s victories this season is a 3-2 defeat of the North St. Paul 39ers on June 13. The 39ers sit in second place in the district and are tied with Tri-City Red in the loss column.

The Rockets also own victories over White Bear, Hamline Red and North St. Paul Cavalry.
