On the lam in Lauderdale

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports May 31, 2016.

Falcon Heights

Arrest

A 52-year-old man stopped at Larpenteur and Cleveland avenues May 11 was arrested and cited for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation and having no proof of insurance on demand. That could have been enough, but he had a Wright County warrant out for DWI, earning him a lift to the Ramsey County Jail.

A 58-year-old man from St. Paul was stopped at Hoyt and Hamline avenues May 14 and arrested for driving while very intoxicated — he blew three-times over the legal limit, a hefty .24. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for third-degree DWI and third-degree alcohol conentration over .08, the legal limit.

BB attack

Police resonded to an alarm at a cafe in the 1500 block of Hamline Avenue May 13 but found the building secure. What they did find were BB pellet marks in a window, prompting them to call the business’ owner. The damage to the window was not determined.

Disappearing act

Police were called to an apartment building in the 1700 block of Larpenteur Avenue May 13 on reports of a group of people hanging out on the roof of the complex — when police arrived, they spotted them up there. Police went inside the building and made their way to the hatch that leads to the roof, but when they got there, to quote the report, “all parties on the roof were gone.” The management of the apartment complex estimated the parties did $23 worth of damage to the roof; management will contact police if more damage up there is discovered.

Domestic assault

A 46-year-old man was arrested May 12 and taken to the Ramsey County Jail where he was booked for felony domestic assault-strangulation and gross misdemeanor interference with  a 911 call. The victim, a 37-year-old woman, told police she argued with the 46-year-old, her boyfriend, and he tried to strangle her. The man fled and took the woman’s keys and cell phone, after a neighbor told him they’d called 911. While police were speaking to the victim, the 46-year-old returned, at which point he was arrested.

Partial payment

An employee at the SuperAmerica in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue told police on May 15 a man entered the store and began loading a backpack with merchandise. The man then, slyly, paid for one small item and left without paying for all the stuff in his bag. The employee then jotted down the guy’s license plate number as he drove off. Police say they’ll continue to investigate the suspect, a 23-year-old man.

Lauderdale

Arrest

Warrant party at the Ramsey County Jail! Police stopped a couple at Como Avenue and Hunting Valley Road and found the pair each had outstanding Ramsey County warrants. The 19-year-old woman had a misdemeanor warrant for not having a valid Minnesota driver’s license while the 23-year-old man had a misdemeanor warrant for DWI. Both caught a trip to the jail.

Curfew bust

A trio of 16-year-old boys got in trouble when they were stopped at Larpenteur Avenue and Eustis Street May 14. The driver was arrested and cited for not having a Minnesota driver’s license and a traffic light violation. The two other kids were given curfew violation warnings.

On the lam in Lauderdale

A trio of 16-year-olds, this time a boy and two girls, got in trouble when they were stopped at Eustis Street and Larpenteur Avenue May 15. The boy who was driving was arrested and cited for not having a valid Minnesota driver’s license and for an open bottle of alcohol in the car. He was taken home to his mother. The girls were arrested for misdemeanor false information to police. “Both females continually lied to officers,” police reports say. “After approximately four hours, the mother for each female was located.” It turns out the 16-year-old girls were on the lam — missing, according to their mothers — for a couple of days. The moms picked up their daughters and they were assured their citations were in the mail.
