Canada goose on the loose in Little Canada

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports April 12, 2016.

Falcon Heights

Arrest

The 23-year-old man stopped for careless driving March 21 at Hamline and Roselawn avenues was arrested and cited for the poor driving, along with having a revoked license, driving an uninsured vehicle, having no proof of insurance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

The 24-year-old male passenger in the car stopped March 23 at Snelling and Hoyt avenues was arrested and got a trip to the Ramsey County Jail for possession of methamphetamine — that’s a felony in the fifth degree. The driver, another 24-year-old man, was arrested and released, though ticketed for driving with a suspended license and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft

It was a brazen move — the 73-year-old man who lives in the 1700 block of Tatum Street reported March 23 that shortly after he placed outgoing mail into his mailbox, someone drove up and stole the envelope. The estimated loss is $4.

A thief with expensive tastes lifted a $60 bottle of booze from the liquor store in the 1500 block of Snelling Avenue March 23. An employee reported that the person walked out the door without paying for the alcohol — though police got information about the suspect’s vehicle.

Lock your car

A 55-year-old man who lives in the 1800 block of Albert Street reported March 25 that someone had rummaged through his unlocked car the night before. The man lucked out and didn’t lose anything to the would-be thief.

The 46-year-old woman who lives in the 1800 block of Prior Avenue — about a mile west of Albert Street — wasn’t so lucky. She reported March 25 that someone had gotten into her garage and rummaged through it and her car. She said the burglar got two wallets, car manuals that held insurance cards, a tool set and the garage door opener, for a possible return trip. The loss was estimated at more than $500.

Just between the two addresses above, from the 1700 block of Larpenteur Avenue, a 21-year-old man reported March 25 that someone rifled through his unlocked vehicle as well. He lost his car title to the thief.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 56-year-old man ended up in the Ramsey County Jail after being stopped at Como Avenue and Hunting Valley Road March 21. He had no insurance, was driving with a revoked license and got pulled over for expired tabs — the real rub was the felony fifth-degree possession of suspected heroin.

More of the same — the 27-year-old man pulled over at Larpenteur Avenue and Fulham Street March 27 was arrested and cited for driving with a suspended license, not having a valid Minnesota license, no proof of insurance and for a child restraint violation.

Seriously, there are locks for a reason

An unidentified victim reported March 23 that someone had rummaged through two of their unlocked vehicles in the 1800 block of Eustis Street. The person reported the loss of roughly $30 in change.

One block away, in the 1800 block of Carl Street, a 65-year-old man reported March 23 that someone went through his unlocked vehicle, netting about $5 in change.

A barefoot 28-year-old man from New Brighton was seen walking in the 2400 block of Sunrise Drive on a chilly April 5. A neighbor on the block, concerned about the man’s well being, called it in. When deputies confronted the fellow, he was talking to himself and they had him transported to Regions Hospital for an evaluation.

Case of the Mondays

As police drove past a bar in the 2500 block of Rice Street near closing time April 3 — aka early Monday morning — they noticed bouncers leading a 25-year-old Maplewood man out of the establishment. He happened to be pushing people, yelling and swearing, so police took him off the bar’s hands and arrested him for disorderly conduct.
