Job Resources

If you’re looking for a job and want to learn about the job seeking tools available through the South St. Paul Public Library, 106 Third Ave. N., stop by on Monday, April 4, for an informational session. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., you will be able to learn about databases, local resources and more. Registration is required for each person. Please arrive at least five minutes early. Late arrivals can lose their registration spot.

Robert Street open house

The public will have an opportunity to join West St. Paul officials and construction staff on Monday, April 4, to learn more about the 2016 Robert Street Improvements Project. 

From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., staff will be on hand to address people’s questions or concerns. There will be maps and documents outlining the latest project information.

Taking place at the Wentworth Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E., residents, merchants, employees and the traveling public are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project and talk with city officials. 


Homeward Bound event

“You’re On Stage” will take place on Mondays, April 4, 11, 18, and 25, from 2:35 to 3:55 p.m. at Inver Grove Heights Middle School, 8167 Cahill Ave. E.

Sixth- through eighth-graders will focus on using body movement, facial expressions and voice to build character developments and portrayal. Budding actors will play with and explore their imaginations to learn how to reach their hidden talents with these scene tagging and acting techniques.

Pee Wee soccer

Inver Grove Heights Park and Recreation is hosting a Pee Wee Indoor Soccer League on Tuesdays, starting April 5, and running through Tuesday, May 3, from 6 to 6:45. 

Kids ages 4 to 6 can participate in the instructional league, which combines fun skills/drills and scrimmage games. Volunteer coaches instruct small groups. 

The league will use the West Arena turf at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, 8055 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights.

Inver Glen Library events

Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E., will host its Teen Book Club Tuesday, April 5, from 3 to 4 p.m. This month’s book is “The Apothecary” by Maile Meloy. Copies of the book are available at the library for reading prior to the book club discussion. 

The club is sponsored by the Friends of the Inver Glen Library, and designed for kids ages 12 to 18.

Inver Glen Library will have Storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7.

Understanding hospice

On Tuesday, April 5, stop by Vista Prairie at River Heights, 744 19th Ave. N., South St. Paul, for a free educational presentation and discussion on hospice care. Topics will include planning for quality of life, dignity and comfort.

Refreshments will be served. The event will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Tanya Weideman, a clinical nurse supervisor at HealthEast Hospice, will lead the presentation. Registration is required by calling Margi Stanley at 651-326-6502 or emailing to register. Space is limited. 


Volunteer information session

Whether you are on the fence about becoming a volunteer or are ready to get started, stop by the Dodge Nature Center’s main office, 365 Marie Ave. W., West St. Paul, to learn if Dodge Nature Center is the best fit for you. 

From 5 to 5:45 p.m., you will be given an overview of the organization and review annual and current volunteer positions. Treats will be provided and the session will last no longer than 45 minutes.

You can fill out an application to bring with you that can be found on or complete one later if you are undecided. Applications can be found in the main office. 


Seasonal Explorations

On Friday, April 8, explore the natural world around you with your preschooler. Share your child’s joy in discovering and interacting with nature as the seasons change from spring to summer. Through outdoor adventures, stories and artifacts, live animals and creative play, naturalists will provide new experiences each month.

This is an outdoor program taking place at Dodge Nature Farm Entrance, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul, from 10 to 11:15 a.m., so come dressed for the weather.

Activities are designed for ages 3 to 5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Scholarships are available. Cost is $6. There is no cost for kids ages 2 and younger. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call 651-455-4531. 


Rummage and bake sale

Saint Paul’s United Methodist Women are holding their annual spring rummage sale and bake sale on Saturday, April 16, at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, 700 Wesley Lane, Mendota Heights. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the sales conclude at 1 p.m. 

Proceeds will help  fund mission projects locally, nationally and internationally. The church is located north of the intersection of Highway 110 and Dodd Road. For further information, contact the church office at 651-452-5683.


Annual Lebanese Dinner

Traditional Lebanese delicacies of baked kibbe and chicken with green beans over rice will be on the menu at Holy Family Maronite’s 66th annual Lebanese dinner on Sunday, April 17. 

The meal — which also includes flat breads, salad and dessert — will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the church’s social hall, 1960 Lexington Ave. S., Mendota Heights. 

The cost is $15 for a full meal and $8 for a half meal, with all proceeds going to the church. In addition to the meal, deli items and baked goods will be available for purchase. 

Sales at the door the day of the event are limited, so diners are encouraged to get tickets in advance by contacting Holy Family at 651-291-1116.
