The Minnesota Cold Weather Rule ends soon

 

The Minnesota Cold Weather Rule helps protect and reconnect households heat from Oct. 15 through April 15.

All electric and natural gas companies must offer Cold Weather Rule protection. Different types of payment plans are available, depending on your household income and which electric or natural gas company you have.

If customers are having trouble keeping up with their winter heating bills, they should contact their electric or natural gas company to sign up for a Cold Weather Rule payment plan.

Cold Weather Rule protection ends on April 15. If customers still owe on their bill on April 15 they may face utility disconnection. Customers who qualify should apply for the Energy Assistance Program in their area and ask their electric or natural gas company to continue a payment plan.
