Rock, rattle and rhyme

On Monday, March 21 from 6:15-7 p.m., enjoy rhymes, songs, sign language, books and play time to learn early literacy and socialization skills at South St. Paul Public Library, 106 Third Ave. N. ECFE staff will be on hand to provide child development information as well as weight your babies. For children up to 36 months and their caregivers. 

 

Juggling show

On Monday, March 21 from 7-7:45 p.m., Jason Huneke will be performing at the Wentworth Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E. in St. Paul. Featured on “America’s Got Talent” and nationally known for his Michael Jackson dance routine, Huneke performs a comedy and jugging act that includes a 6-foot unicycle, a Chinese diabolo, a top hat and juggling knives. 

 

Print making

Etch a doodle or design on a foam surface and create prints of the design using paint, on Tuesday, March 22 from 11-11:45 a.m., at the South St. Paul Public Library, 106 Third Ave. N. Open to kids ages 3-7. Registration is required. Please bring a paint shirt. Call the library at 651-554-3240.

 

Garage sale

The Mendota VFW Post 6690 is hosting its annual garage sale at the VFW, 1323 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24 to Saturday, March 26.

You can find anything and everything, except computer and TV equipment. Donations are still being accepted, except for computer and TV equipment, and donations can be dropped off anytime the bar is open from 12-10 p.m.

 

Inver Glen Library events

Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E., in Inver Grove Heights, will have storytime on Thursday, March 24, from 10:30-11 a.m. Head over for songs and stories. All ages are welcome.

Maple syrup time

Celebrate the return of spring by observing the age-old process of turning tree sap into syrup. On Saturday, March 26 from 1-2:30 p.m., observe a tree tapping demonstration, collect sap, visit the evaporator and sample some delicious maple syrup. The event is at Dodge Farm Entrance, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul, this program is designed for kindergartners and older. The cost is $7.

 

Good Samaritan Society fundraiser

The Good Samaritan Society- Inver Grove Heights will be hosting its annual spring brunch and silent auction starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2 ,at the Mendakota Country Club, 2075 Mendakota Dr. in Mendota Heights.

Pianist Lynn Brownell will provide entertainment. Many baskets and items will be on display to bid on during the silent auction.

Tickets are $23 per person during early bird pricing, and after March 23rd, tickets can be purchased at the door for $27. Tickets may be purchased at the facility or mailed. For more information contact Jennifer Heesch at 651-451-1853 or jheesch@good-sam.com.

 

St. Paul Hiking Club

The St. Paul Hiking Club announces these March hikes:

• Sunday, March 20 — First day of spring. No Hike. Awards banquet

• Tuesday, March 22 — 11:30 a.m. Meet at Sun Ray Shopping Center, 2089 Old Hudson Rd., in St. Paul, (on the North side of Interstate Highway 94, close to 3M Center). Meet by the large Sun Ray sign.

• Sunday, March 27 — Easter Sunday, no hike

• Tuesday, March 29 — 11:30 a.m. Meet in the parking lot of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 436 N Roy St., in the Midway Area of St. Paul. The church is 1 block south of the Green Spruce Tree Building which is at 1600 University Ave W. We will hike in the Midway area. Treats: TBD

Sunday hikes are about five miles and last about two hours. Tuesday hikes are about three miles and last about one hour.
