Winter Fun Fest
On Saturday, Feb. 20, West St. Paul will be hosting its first annual Winter Fun Fest. 
From 4 to 8 p.m., stop by and meet West St. Paul Royalty and join others for a day of fun at Marthaler Park, 1625 Humboldt Ave. 
Activities will include: sledding and skating, drawing and prizes, tents, heaters and campfires, food trucks, adult beverages, live DJ music and fireworks.

Pre-school sports
The city of Inver Grove Heights is offering sports programs for 4- to 6 year-olds. 
The two sports programs will take place Tuesdays, Feb. 16 to March 15. 
From 6 to 6:45 p.m., there will be preschool basketball. Floor hockey and lacrosse take place from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. 
Instructors will teach using fun games, activities and scrimmages in a positive environment. Fee is $55 per session. Register by going to Call 651-450-2585 for more information. 

Woolly Bears: Snow, Snow, Snow
On Friday, Feb. 19 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., connect your preschooler with nature from the get-go by signing up for the Woolly Bears program series. 
Participants will set out at Dodge Nature Center, 365 Marie Ave. W, West St. Paul, to explore the trails, and then enjoy story time and create an art project to take home.
This program is designed for ages 3 to 5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 
Cost is $12 to the public and $10 for members. Scholarships are available. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. 
The event is also being offered on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Maple syruping at home
Are the maple trees calling out to you to create your own maple syrup at home? 
On Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., stop by the Dodge Nature Center’s Farm Entrance, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul, to learn all the steps in the process from tapping a tree to boiling sap to bottling your syrup to make maple sugar. 
Equipment will be available for purchase. This program is open to adults and seniors. 
Cost is $7 for the public and $5 for members. 

Winter picnic
Put on warm clothes and bring the whole family for an outdoor, wintry adventure on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Dodge Nature Center, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul. 
Attendees will make their way through the nature center using snowshoes and sleds to observe the wildlife out and active that day. After finding a good spot, they’ll throw down blankets, stoke up a fire and have hot drinks and treats. 
Cost is $7 to non-member adults and children. For members, cost is $5 for both adults and children.

Magic and Juggling
Homeward Bound Theatre Company will offer “Magic and Juggling” on Mondays from Feb. 22 through March 14 from 2:35 to 3:55 p.m. at Inver Grove Heights High School where 9th- through 12th-graders will have a hands on experience with magic, juggling and slap-stick comedy illusion. 
The high-schoolers will learn illusionary magic tricks with cards, coins, and the vanishing and reappearing of any small object.
They will also discover the secrets of multi-object manipulation in this beginning juggling class — throw things; catch things; learn to manipulate objects in the air, on the body and on the ground. 
By taking this class, the teens will also develop life skills with long-ranging benefits. Learning and performing will not only build confidence and self-esteem, but will also help with their ability to speak in front of a large audience.

St. Paul Hiking Club
The St. Paul Hiking Club announces these February hikes:

• Tuesday, Feb. 16 - 11:30 a.m. Meet in the parking lot of the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. in Inver Grove Heights for a residential hike. Take Highway 52 south to 80th and left to the library

• Sunday, Feb. 21 - 2:30 p.m. Annual membership meeting, members only

• Tuesday, Feb. 23 - 11:30 a.m. Meet in the northwest corner of the parking lot of Costco, 1431 Beam Ave., Maplewood (Country View Lane and County Rd. D) We ll hike the Bruce Vento Trail. Treats: Gulden s, 2999 N Highway 61.

• Sunday, Feb. 28 - 2:30 p.m. Meet on the south side of Super Target, 449 Commerce Dr., in Woodbury. (parking area near Tamarack Rd. off Woodbury Dr.) We will hike on trails in Wilmes Lake area and Summit Pointe neighborhoods.

Sunday hikes are about five miles and last about two hours. Tuesday hikes are about three miles and last about one hour.
