Candidate slates ready for New Brighton, St. Anthony, Mounds View School Board and more

Candidate filing for city and school district elections -- those that didn't have a primary -- closed Aug. 11 following the two-week filing period, and some of this November's off-year elections are sizing up to be more competitive than others.
Potential candidates had until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file their affidavits of candidacy with Ramsey County Elections or the City of New Brighton and to pay their $2 or $5 respective filing fees.
In the Bulletin area, seats are up for a votes at New Brighton and St. Anthony city halls and on the Mounds View Public Schools District 621 and St. Anthony-New Brighton Independent School District 282 boards.
New Brighton's mayor's seat is up, along with two at-large council member seats. Mayor terms are two years and council terms are four years. In St. Anthony, the mayor's seat is in play along with two at-large council seats; all terms are four years.
Four at-large seats on the Mounds View School Board are in play while three are in play for the St. Anthony School Board. For both boards, terms are four years.
Election day is Nov. 3 and the full list of candidates follows:
New Brighton
• For Mayor: Gina Bauman (current council member), Dave Jacobsen (incumbent), Val Johnson
• For two at-large council seats: Mary Burg (incumbent) Susan Erickson, Paul Jacobsen (incumbent), Richard "Rick" Moses
St. Anthony
• Mayor: Jerry Faust (incumbent)
• Council member, two at-large seats: Bonnie Brever (incumbent, appointment expired), Hal Gray (incumbent)
Mounds View Public Schools District 621
• Four at-large board seats: John Hakes, Bob Helgeson (incumbent), Amy Jones (incumbent), Jonathan Weinhagen (incumbent, appointment expired), Sandra Westerman (incumbent)
St. Anthony-New Brighton Independent School District 282
• Three at-large board seats: Cassandra Palmer, Andrea Scamehorn (incumbent), Mike Volna (incumbent)
