Harding teacher a finalist for 2015 Teacher of the Year

For the second time in his career in St. Paul Public Schools, Erik Brandt is a 2015 Minnesota Teacher of the Year finalist.

Brandt, an English teacher and IB program coordinator for the school, was also named a finalist in 2013.

He’s one of 10 finalists chosen out of a pool of 123 candidates.

Those 10 finalists will be interviewed by a selection panel of 23 Minnesotans on May 2, and a “teacher of the year” will be announced the following day at a banquet at a hotel in Bloomington.

The panel selecting the winner includes leaders from the education, business, government and non-profit sectors.

Education Minnesota, the 70,000-member statewide educators union, organizes and underwrites the Teacher of the Year program. Candidates include pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers from public and private schools.
