TEDxMahtomedi 2015 scheduled May 2

Kate Christopher, a Mahtomedi sculptor, small business owner, member of the Century College Foundation board of directors and former longtime Mahtomedi School Board member, has been named master of ceremonies for TEDxMahtomedi 2015, a daylong event May 2 at Century College in Mahtomedi.

The event, supported by Mahtomedi Community Education, Century College and community volunteers, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Century College’s Lincoln Mall. Organized around the theme “Why Not?” it will feature a series of 18-minute or shorter original presentations on topics ranging from art and science to adversity and innovation, along with a catered lunch and conversation breaks.

Tickets are $25 and are on sale at tedxmahtomedi.com or by phone at 651-407-2018. Attendance is limited to 100 people to keep interaction and conversations lively, but the talks will be video recorded and made available online for the entire community — and world — to view.

TEDx is part of a global network of independently organized local events held in the spirit of the internationally renowned TED — Technology, Education and Design — conference and video series.
