Tartan High School's DECA chapter has seen four students advance past state to national competition.

In DECA, students put their research, analytic and marketing skills to work studying potential career occupations. Tartan's chapter competed at the State Career Development Conference March 8-10.

Tartan student Allen Richardson qualified for national competition based on his demonstrated knowledge of restaurant and food service management.

Also qualifying were Mariah Gilman, Tyler Thompson and Oscar Zambrano, who earned school-based-enterprise "Gold" level recertification for their work operating and marketing Tartan's school store.

Of the 27 Tartan students who competed at the state level, eight advanced into finals.

More than 15,000 students from around the world will converge on Orlando, Florida at the end of April for national competition.
