See what parks have to offer

A “Play in the Park” event at Garlough Elementary School, 1740 Charlton St. in West St Paul, is set for Wednesday, March 25.
The goal of the event is to show young people and families the many affordable ways to enjoy Minnesota’s outdoors. Kids and families will be able to sample camping, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing and archery without the typical high cost.
The Minnesota DNR created this program, which provides gear and knowledgeable instructors, to show kids that they can climb, camp, bike, fish and paddle locally at state and county parks. The event will also feature a presentation co-hosted by Dakota County Parks and the Minnesota DNR.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the program runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
“Play in the Park” is sponsored by state Reps. Rick Hansen, DFL-South St. Paul, and Carlos Mariani, DFL-St. Paul, as well as the DNR.
