After letting the wrong guys use his car, a 53-year-old was cited Dec. 10 at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street for allowing the illegal operation of an uninsured vehicle. A 24-year-old male passenger was arrested for gross misdemeanor false information to police and booked at the jail on a felony warrant issued for his arrest for a Dept. of Corrections parole violation.

Lauderdale

Theft
Four vehicle rims stored by a senior citizen in the underground garage at her apartment complex in the 1600 block of Pleasant Street went missing Dec. 11. The custom rims were valued at $300, the 72-year-old told police.

Little Canada

Domestic assault
A woman who quizzed her boyfriend about a woman's number in his phone was punched for her trouble. Instead of calling the woman's number, the 35-year-old girlfriend called 911 and the 39-year-old boyfriend was jailed on domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges. "He's been abusing me for the past year," the victim told deputies, adding that she had not reported the previous incidents.

Experience preferred
All they're missing now are the white coveralls. Two thieves who may be going into the painting business were seen loading up unmarked boxes of equipment and supplies from the loading dock of a Rice Street paint store the afternoon of Dec. 9, and then speeding off southbound on Rice in a Buick. The theft included two paint sprayers, seven paint guns and a quantity of paint cartridges, valued at a total of $3,232. If you're hiring a painter, you may want to ask for references.

Theft
A gutsy thief was lucky he didn't run into any kickboxing students Dec. 8 when he went into the women's locker room at a martial arts and jiu-jitsu training academy in the 2900 block of Rice Street, making off with a wallet filled with credit cards which were quickly used to the tune of $2,200 at three area stores.

Three packages containing a Princess Doll Castle, a doll from the popular movie "Frozen" and a sweatshirt and valued at a total of $108 were delivered and left by the front door of a residence in the 800 block of Pine Tree Court on Dec. 15. A thief picked them up.

A 62-year-old Maplewood woman inadvertently dropped her wallet Dec. 15 at a grocery store in the 2300 block of Rice Street. Store surveillance video shows an adult female in a red hoodie picking the wallet up. No attempt was made to return the item, which contained $6 and credit cards.

"Felon in possession"
A traffic stop for a lane violation Dec. 13 at I-35E and Little Canada Road kicked off a series of events that ended with the driver in jail. The 26-year-old Minneapolis man, who showed signs of drinking, was charged with gross-misdemeanor second-degree DWI after blowing a .19 percent BAC on the Data Master. He was also charged with "felon in possession of a weapon," itself a felony after a .22 cal. Walther P-22 handgun was found in the vehicle. The loaded pistol also proved to be stolen.
