Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls Soup

There! No rolling cabbage leaves, no toothpicks, just the classic taste of cabbage rolls in an easy-to-make, easy-to-serve soup. "Lots have asked for this again," notes Pamela Seivert, who also contributed our first-place recipe.

2 pounds ground beef or turkey
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
1 small head of cabbage, chopped
2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Greek seasoning
1 teaspoon sea salt

In a large pan, heat olive oil, then meat and onions and cook until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook an additional minute.
Add the chopped cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, pepper, seasoning, salt and water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
