“Dirt” comment fuels argument in Little Canada

A daylong argument culminated in an assault after the husband, fixing dinner on the grill, dropped a few kabobs on the ground. “I see we‘ll be “eating some dirt tonight,” his wife said after he quickly got the skewers back on the fire. That set the husband off and he began throwing things around, and at one point he even threw his wife against a wall. On the victim’s third attempt to contact 911, the husband smashed the phone. A daughter completed the call, deputies arrived and the suspect was arrested at Taserpoint and booked at the Ramsey County Jail for gross-misdemeanor 911 call interference and misdemeanor domestic assault.

Arrests
Stopped for speeding Aug. 26 at Hamline and California avenues, the 33-year-old Maplewood man was jailed on charges of felony possession of burglary tools, felony possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving after license revocation, as well as the speed violation.

A Lino Lakes man, pulled over on suspicion of drunken driving Aug. 30 at Larpenteur and Snelling avenues, was apparently ready for more. After testing .13 percent BAC the 21-year-old man was booked at the jail for DWI and possession of an open bottle.

Theft
A 72-year-old dad reported the loss of $800 worth of compact discs on Aug. 31 from his Larpenteur Avenue apartment. When dad learned that his son was the one who stole his 80 CDs, he was so enamored with the young man’s taste in music he refused to pursue charges.

Arrest
When the boyfriend shoved the 21-year-old girlfriend into the sliding glass door at her apartment the night of Aug. 29, the resulting noise propelled the neighbor into calling 911. Deputies arrived, arrested the boyfriend, and booked him at the jail on charges of domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Assault
”He assaulted me,” the 24-year-old caller told a dispatcher in a 911 call the night of Sept. 2. The victim told deputies her boyfriend “pushed me, hit me in the face, dragged me to the bedroom and kicked me,” before leaving the apartment. A friend drove the woman, who is five months pregnant, to the hospital. Deputies are looking for the 42-year-old on a gross-misdemeanor 911 call interference charge and a pending charge of domestic assault.

According to mom, her 28-year-old son beat up her 61-year-old boyfriend the night of Sept. 4. Assault charges are under review by the city attorney.
