North St. Paul alarmed by string of daytime home burglaries

Residents of North St. Paul have seen a dramatic rise in daytime burglaries this summer.

Police Capt. Dustin Nikituk reports that since June 1, police have been called to the scenes of "numerous residential burglaries."

Burglars are gaining access through unlocked doors, cutting screens on unlocked lower-level windows and unlocked service doors from homes to garages.

The problem doesn't seem to be tapering with summer coming to a close, and the police want to reacquaint residents with primary security measures.

People out for quick errands, at work or even just planning to be in an area of the yard where they can't see all the windows and doors are urged to lock possible entrances.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious people or activity occurring in their neighborhoods.
